Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can you use it everyday and do I need to take a break?

A: The product can be used daily as a prophylactic and as a general health tonic, or when you feel you are ill or about to become ill with a cold or flu for instance.

In addition to its use as a general health tonic, Oregano oil is used to treat a range of health issues.  We are a TGA regulated product, such that we cannot provide dosage advice beyond that on our labelling. This can be obtained from a health practitioner.  Health Practitioners will recommend different dosages for different issues.

When you are using it as a general health tonic, you can take minimal dosages in accordance with the directions on our labelling, such as one capsule a day or 1-5 drops 3 times a day. When you take the product daily as per the dosage recommendation on the label, we do not see the need for a break.

Oregano oil has strong antibacterial and antifungal properties.  Accordingly, for a particular client’s specific health issues, various practitioners may recommend higher dosages than that recommended on our labelling as a general health tonic.  If you use the Oil of Wild Oregano at a therapeutic dose (recommended by a health practitioner)  to treat a particular illness for an extended period of time, then a break and a good probiotic may be beneficial. As you know, traditional antibiotics are focused on killing bacteria. The same applies with oil of wild oregano.  You might actually get some bacterial die off (Herxheimer reaction). You can have some die off of that bacteria, such that you are likely to feel worse before you feel better.

We recommend daily use as a general health tonic, and we are unaware of any negative side effects with long term use. We stress however that we recommend daily use of our own unadulterated product, and that this does not apply to all Oregano products on the market. We make no comment on those. Our Oil of Oregano is unadulterated and in our view that is fundamental to the effectiveness and safety of the product.

Q: How many drops are in a capsule?

A: Each capsule contains 100mg of oregano oil ( which is approx. 15 – 18 drops of our liquid bottles of oregano oil).  Our labelling  recommends a capsule a day if taken in capsule form / 1-5 drops 3 times a day if taken by dropper, or as prescribed by your health practitioner.

Q: Why is your product this price compared to other brands?

A: You will find that high quality oregano oil that is in fact extracted from the species Origanum vulgare (which is the one species of the over 50 species in the genus that have therapeutic benefits), will also hover around this price point in much smaller volumes (such as 15ml of pure oregano). The price point of other pure oregano oils are dependent on whether the oregano is wildly sourced, contains high carvacrol levels, is bottled in a TGA approved facility and whether it is unadulterated.

It’s emulsification in olive oil is done to provide a product that is convenient to use, as the oil undiluted needs to be consumed under specific instructions. It can not be used externally or taken internally without the appropriate dilution as undesired outcomes can otherwise arise. Also appropriate mixing is required to ensure the oil is mixed otherwise it is counterintuitive and you can be at risk of unwanted effects. Hence we emulsify, not dilute/mix.

We emulsify it with olive oil in specific ratios to ensure convenience and ease of use for our consumers. So the ratio of oregano oil to carrier oil is not relevant to the value of the product you’re buying. However for your knowledge it is to a ratio of 1:4.

To help answer any further queries about our product here is a bit of info on us and Oregano :)

There are over 50 species of oregano but the essential oil produced from Origanum Vulgare is considered to be the most therapeutically beneficial. This is due to it’s naturally high occurring levels of carvacrol.

Solutions4Health’s Oil of Wild Oregano is sourced from the Origanum Vulgare species. This grows wild in high altitudes of the Mediterranean region.

Our raw materials are handpicked right from where nature intended them to grow, with no pesticides, no growth enhancers and no synthetic additives.

Solutions4Health products are made in Australia and our therapeutic products are listed with the Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia (TGA) and our products are manufactured in TGA, GMP compliant and Australian Certified Organic facilities. It is Certified Organic and is produced under ISO 9001-2008 and HACCP quality procedures.

The plants are hand-picked and naturally steam distilled, with no adulteration or standardization implemented at any stage. No additives are used in the process and nothing is taken away. It is important that the Oregano oil has its natural state preserved, with no adulteration of any of its constituents, as all the active constituents in their natural state and levels act synergistically together to provide its therapeutic benefits effectively.

When Oregano Oil is standardized or adulterated, a constituent is added or taken away. This does not benefit the consumer as the 3 main chemical constituents work synergistically together to provide the therapeutic qualities of Oil of Wild Oregano. One of Oil of Wild Oregano’s  main active constituents is Carvacrol. There have been many studies showing the immense therapeutic benefits this constituent has, however tests have also shown that pure Carvacrol on its own is not as effective as Oil of Wild Oregano as a whole.
