What is Arthritis
There are over 100 different medical conditions that fall under the umbrella term of Arthritis, all of which affect the musculoskeletal system where two or more bones meet1. It is a very common condition which usually develops over time, although it can also appear suddenly. It is currently affecting more than 3.9 million adults and children in Australia1,2,3.
The two most common types are; Osteoarthritis (OA) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). The common symptoms are joint pain, stiffness, swelling, redness and warmth in a joint1,3.
Joint pain is not always associated with arthritis; its cause could be from an injury or use of your joints and muscles in an odd or new way. However if the joint pain:
– starts for no apparent reason;
– lasts for more than a few days; or
– is accompanied with swelling, redness and warmth of your joints;
it is best to talk to your health care practitioner as it could be arthritis.
How can Oil of Wild Oregano help?
According to a study conducted by Swiss researchers, oregano is the “ultimate inflammation fighter” thanks to its active ingredient betacaryophyllin (E-BCP). Professor Dr. Andreas Zimmer from the Life & Brain-Zentrum in Bonn claimed “Our results have revealed that E-BCP inhibits inflammation,” in reference to their 2008 study on Beta-caryophyllene. 5*
Oil of Wild Oregano is a potent anti-inflammatory and an excellent pain reliever. Studies indicate the Carvacrol content is responsible for its analgesic activity. Rubbing Oil of Wild Oregano on the area of pain can provide relief of inflammation. The oil penetrates the skin and makes contact with the joints. As a result it is an effective natural remedy for arthritic conditions.4
